I am now teaching a class on Skilshare. The current class if focused on Figure Drawing and Comic Character creation. I will be adding more lessons each week so let me know what you want to learn and I will make it happen! I want to teach some techniques for breaking down the poses and reconstructing them with confidence. My classes are more for aspiring comic book artists but they can be translated well for fine artists too. The same basic principles apply and a lot of what I will be teaching can apply to other things in your art.
I hope you find this content valuable and I am interested to hear what you think. There will be exercises to make sure you are learning what you need to. That is one of the things I find pretty neat about Skillshare. As well as the lessons being smaller bite size segments, unlike my larger courses on Udemy and my Gumroad.
Sign up for my Skilshare classes here and I look forward to helping you with your ART!! http://skl.sh/2nBoUec
Figure Drawing Foundations – Proportions by Clayton Barton
Hello fellow comic art guys and gals. I have a pretty cool offer for you if you find yourself wanting to get better at drawing comic book hero proportions. We have all struggled in that department a time or two and it never hurts to work on that subject as much as possible. So here is just the thing to get those mental gears working on that topic.
Figure Drawing Foundations – Proportions by Clayton Barton. Clayton has done a stand up job at breaking down the barriers when it comes to understanding proportions. He goes into great detail on this subject and sheds light on this tricky topic. He also gives you a nice variety of tiers to choose from. Since one size doesn’t fit all, you can choose from a few packages to suit your level of interest for this topic.
In the various packages you get video walkthroughs, PDF’s, access to a virtual classroom, and lots of finely crafted lessons. I have been drawing a long time and I must admit that I am finding some great tips and tricks in here that I needed to learn. He has done an excellent job at covering all the bases to understanding body proportions and character designs. He breaks it down in an easy to follow manner which is so valuable when doing these types of studies.
So if you need that level up on your character work this is the course content to check out. And please share the work. Clayton is an amazing teacher and to keep him creating great content sharing the work is essential!
You can get his content here and good luck with your art!
I am now offering a pose pack on my Gumroad. These poses will be mainly in a mannequin style like you see above to help with your drawing process. This will be a full collection of all my comic book poses that I have created and refined over the years, as well as many new ideas that I have planned.
This set will include action poses such as running, flying, punching, kicking, lifting objects, etc. And I will be creating poses with two or more characters as well. It will also include basic poses such as eating dinner at a table, having a conversation, and hand gestures. These often get overlooked in these types of packs and are just as important to telling a great story.
You can sign up for the Ram Studios Comics newsletter and get some free poses each month but for this full collection head over to my Gumroad here – https://gum.co/UJaJe
By getting the pose pack now you will lock in at a lower price. I will be adding more poses as they are created and the price will increase over time as the pack gets larger. So act now and save some coin in the process. It also helps me to know how many people find value in this product and to dedicate my time accordingly. These poses are in a PSD format and the lineart is on its own layer. Other formats will be available soon.
Thank you for supporting my work and good luck with your comics!
How to Draw Hands – 6 Different Ways – Video Lesson
In this video I discuss how to draw hand poses and things to look for to make this process easier. I talk about some of the primitive shapes that are noticeable in the hands when designing your art pose. As well as study methods to commit more of this to memory.
Hands are always a tricky topic but it is important to not shy away from them because you find them difficult to do. We learn a lot from drawing hands and they are in integral part of telling a great story within your illustrations.
If you have any questions about this video lesson then please feel free to comment and I will do my best to help you if I can. Either in a response or through and upcoming video. Good luck with your art and thank you for reading!

Free Lesson from My Course on How to Improve Your Figure Drawing
This is lesson 2 from my course on How to Improve Your Figure Drawing Step by Step that is available on both Udemy and my Gumroad. This will give you an idea of what you can find in the full course.
In this lesson I show you how to break down the arm with basic shapes to make drawing it from your mind much easier. This won’t replace knowing your anatomy. That takes years to accomplish. But this will give you the fundamental knowledge to build upon. I create these types of studies all the time to continually improve. You will also get the art files from each lesson in this course.
The entire course goes through each of the body parts of both male and female. This is a basic approach to figure drawing. This entire tutorial is 3.5 hours. I share techniques that I have used over the years to create comic book illustrations and storyboards for television. You will learn how to systematically break down the various parts of the body into simpler shapes. As I illustrate each area step by step you will follow along and learn from my studies. This will give you insight into how I create my artwork and create poses from the mind. I also share what techniques I use to improve my knowledge of the human form. Things like gesture drawings, timed studies of the pose, negative space drawing, foreshortening, perspective, organic versus angular lines, and much more. You will also be given a copy of the art files that I have created here so that you can work along and study from them. By the end of this course you should be more confident in constructing your figure drawings from the mind and have a better understanding of the human form.
BONUS Content! ( Only on my Gumroad ) Now by getting this course you will also get my lessons on How to Draw and Shade Muscular Arm Poses just to sweeten the deal. Includes the art files as well! 😉 Sample Video – https://youtu.be/0w6m3KiMfZ4
How to Draw Foreshortening for Comic Book Superheroes – Tutorial
In this video lesson I show you how to draw the superhero arm in a foreshortened perspective. I explain the process while drawing this step by step. I go over the techniques that I use to create this type of artwork quickly and effectively. This entire video lesson in narrated and in real time.
If you enjoy this video then please share it on your favorite social media to help me keep producing new content. I upload new videos on the subject of drawing comic book superheroes each week. I also teach how to digitally paint using a variety of programs and tablets.
You can get access to my drawing courses on Udemy as well as the art files to study from. As a digital artist trying to make a living with my new studio setup I was looking around for better ways to do this. I love to draw commissions but I never seemed to get enough of them to stay busy. But I noticed through my Youtube channel that I was getting a lot of people wanting to know how I do what I do. I was first approached to do online teaching by Tuts Plus of Envato and though it was a very amazing opportunity to work with those guys the work started to slow after a few courses. They started to make cut backs and I needed to keep pressing forward.
So as I searched the endless space that is the internet I found Udemy. I also found a bunch of others but I ultimately settled on Udemy because they do so well at helping you to promote your content and they have an extremely active Facebook group that all seem happy to help the newbie’s which is huge.
So I started making course content for them and because you retain rights to your work I also offer the same content through my Gumroad as well. The best thing about Udemy is that students are going there specifically for learning so they are willing to spend to gain that instruction. I don’t have to try to sell them on anything because they are already there with that intention. I don’t mind the occasional sales pitch but it does conflict with that I would rather be doing and that is creating art and teaching others how to better create their art.
So Here are a few of my courses on Udemy. I hope you enjoy them if you decide to take them and fee free to ask any questions if you have them. They have a great question and review setup as well. I want to know if you find something that could have been better. I am continually trying to improve what I do so please let me know!
Hello everyone and thank you for stopping by. Robert A. Marzullo here and I wanted to officially welcome you to our new website. On this site you will see artwork that I create and share on comics, digital painting, 3D sculpting, and video tutorials. This will be a learning platform as much as it will be an online portfolio. I have lots of work ahead of me so please be patient. It will take time for me to get this site the way that I would like.
If you have any suggestions on what you think would make this a better experience then please share. I always value the opinions of others. You must remember, I am just some guy in a basement studio with a dream. So sometimes I can lose sight of what others might be thinking on the other end of this digital pipeline. It is your job to remind me!😉
So now for me to get to work and start building this site. I will be uploading images, step by step tutorials, links to video files, and blog posts for updates on what is going on. So more is on the way and thanks again for being part of this!
